Our Schools, Our Media

Our Schools, Our Media (OSOM) is a San Francisco Bay Area non-profit that teaches students to mobilize community action on behalf of their schools.

OSOM works with students in diverse, low-income schools to mobilize their communities. Students create publications suggesting school improvements, ways for communities to get involved and goals for the education of local youth. Through these publications, students gain self-confidence as well as upgrading the level of communication and collaboration between schools and their communities.

There are 75 students currently involved directly in OSOM classes and nearly 2,000 students who are impacted by OSOM's community-building efforts. A new Web site, www.osom.org, showcases student-driven community publications and lists opportunities for volunteers.
