Get Your E-Rates Now All U.S. K-12 schools and public libraries qualify for discounts under the E-Rate, or Universal Services Fund, created as part of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 to help American schools and libraries gain affordable access to telecommunications and information services. Discounts range from 20 to 90 percent, based on the percentage of students eligible for the national school lunch program. To qualify during this window, two forms must be submitted by April 14: Forms 470 and 471. netday e-rate guides To publicize the upcoming March 28 "NetDay" to K-12 principals, NetDay officials are distributing a "NetDay Technology Resource Kit," containing official SLC information and provide guidance to site administrators in making decisions about access to and use of the Internet and World Wide Web. The kits include a NetDay CD-ROM with the SLC's official E-Rate applications and instructions, the complete "How-To Guide" and other electronic and multimedia information to help educators connect students to the Internet.
