According to a survey by The Field Institute, in partnership with the California Center for Health Improvement (CCHI), more of the state's parents are Latino (43%) than white non-Hispanic (36%). Another 9% are Asian and 8% are black or African-American. Nearly 36% of all California parents were born outside the U.S., while another 24% were born in a U.S. state other than California. 43% of California parents report annual incomes less than $28,000. 63% are married; 17% divorced, separated or widowed.
