Bay Area Noteworthy Resources

 San Francisco is home to the U.S. Dept. of Education's Region IX Office. Director Lori Hancock would like to work with you:

• to plan a community-awareness campaign on extended day programs and options for funding them;

• to convene a local America Reads Roundtable bringing together the schools and organizations in your community that want to participate in this great task;

• to engage young people in a discussion of race and solicit their ideas about how to build a more equitable society;

• to increase awareness of the need for post-secondary education and build school-to-career systems that can intellectually engage all young people in academic learning and a vision of responsible and challenging adult roles.

Call the Regional Office (415) 705-2229 for information or assistance with any of these programs. We are fortunate that this resource is right here in our own Bay Area.
